FINAL POST! The Uglies!
"I'm Tally Youngblood" she said, "Make me Pretty"
In the end of this novel all the conflicts that happened throughout it were not all resoloved, the conflict that was still left behind was Tally turning Pretty, you are left not knowing what happens after she turns Pretty. This is a clifhanger, makes you want to read the sequil to find out what happens. I liked the ending of this novel because it makes you want to read the second book, even though you are finished the book you are still interested, the author did a great job of catching the attention of the reader.
This ending is believable and realistic. It is not realistic becasue it is based in the future but we are always making decisions that may be positive in the future. Some actions that we take now influence what will happen in the future. The ending of this novel shows that in life you always have to make choices.
My overall impression on the novel the Uglies is that I think it is an amazing book, the author caught my attention and made me want to read more. The setting of the novel got me interested because it is not a normal setting, it is based sometime in the future; where hovercars exist. This book was relatable to teenagers lives becasue it shows the stuggles that every teenager has to go through. whether it was freinds, family or the law, Tally had to fight them all.

Conflict Blog #3!
Beauty is that Medusa's head, which men go to seek and sever. It is most deadly when most dead, and will stare and sting forever. -Archibald MacLeish "Beauty"
Conflict is a big struggle that always happens in novels. In the book the Uglies Tally is faced with a big conflict, and she is the only one that can make the decision to try and fix the problem.
Tally went to The Smoke, got the Special Circumstances to follow her and invade The Smoke. When the Specials arrived they started to capture all the Smokies, so they could bring the Uglies and turn them Pretty. Tally and a couple other Smokies exscaped from teh Specials and ran away. One of the Smokies who used to be a doctor in PrettyVille knew that when they gave you the operation they put leisons in your brain. These leisons make you think and act a certain way; Pretty minded they call it. So after they ran away the group decided that one of them had to sacrafice themselves to turn Pretty; then after they got the operation they would test a new medicine on them to remove the leisons. Tally decided that it was only right for her to sacrafice herself since she brought the Specials to the Smoke.
This was a conflict that happened. the only problem is that The Smokies are now captured by the Specials and nobody knows that Tally sent them there. Even though they all think that Tally is being brave and turning Pretty, they don't know the truth behind it. This will lead to become a domino effect because when they find out they will never trust her again.

Do you think that if you did something wrong and betrayed your friends that they will forgive you if you give yourself away? If your friend did this to you how would you feel about it?

Character Blog #2- Uglies
The main character in my novel is a teenage girl named Tally Youngblood. Like all teenagers she tries to be independent and follow her own rules, but sometimes this gets her into trouble. Tally tries to show that she is tough and can take on anything life gives her by being rebellious and strong. She does this by sneaking out to The Smoke and breaking the heart necklace that Special Circumstances gives her. When she does this the pendant on the necklace gets activated and Special Circumstances flies to The Smoke, captures the Smokies and destroys the land. She broke her promise to her friend Shay, and broke her promise to the Smokies by lying to them and telling them that she wasn't a spy. Even though Tally never wanted that to happen the blame still gets put on her, but Tally realizes her mistake and tries to correct it as soon as she can. From this I can tell that Tally is rebellious but still shows her sympathy when it is needed. A lot of teenage girls can relate to Tally's character because she is trying to stand out from everyone else, and become original and independent.
Tally's weakness in her character is that she tries to be perfect and tries to be what other people are not. She doesn't want to become Pretty-minded and think like all the Pretties do, so she tries to be Bubbly and run with her own rules. This weakness gets Tally into allot of trouble with Special Circumstances and with her own friends. Tally doesn't know how to express her feelings to other people, she doesn't always say the right things at the right times. Tally sometimes gets herself into trouble by saying either too much or too little.

Everybody has a weakness in their life, most of the time a weakness can cause trouble in your life.
What do you think your weakness or flaw is? Weather it is something your scared of like a phobia, or something you wish you could change.

The Uglies
It is not good to make society full of beautiful people!- The New York Times
Imagine living in a world were everybody who is born normal is classified as UGLY, the only way to fit into society is to become PRETTY by having an operation. This operation makes your face symetrical, gives you perfect features, beautiful hair, gives you new skin without any scars, and stretches your bones to the perfect size. But once you turn PRETTY you look the same as everyone else around you, you start to act and think the same way.
Tally youngblood is a 15 year old girl who can't wait for her 16th birthday to come, because once you turn 16 you turn pretty, just like everyone else. There are 2 towns in the city, one is Uglyville and one is Prettyville; Uglies and Pretties are not aloud to go into eachothers towns! Tally's friend Shay tries to convince her to run away, not turn Pretty and go to a secret town called The Smoke. Tally stays behind to turn Pretty, left with a note from Shay telling her the directions to get to The Smoke. But when the day comes to turn Pretty the Special Circumstances takes her hostage and forces Tally to bring them to The Smoke so they can destroy it.
If you were faced with a similar situation as Tally where you have to break your promise to your friend just to get what you want what would you do? would you keep your promise and never tell? or be dishonest and give away their secret?
